Title: EC-12 Literacy Instructional Coach

Classification: Certified Teacher- Instructional Coach

Immediate Supervisor: Curriculum & Instruction Specialist

Job Summary: To provide teacher leadership in district initiatives as outlined in the district and building attendance center plan and to help ensure that all MSS students are performing at proficiency.

Salary: Compensation to align with experience and educational placement on the teacher scale. Base is $41,600. Teacher Leadership Position will receive an additional $5,000 above the teacher scale.

Contract length: 210 Day Contract

Hiring Specifications: Must pass a background check in accordance with P.L. 101-630, and P.L. 101-647, and CFR 25 Part 63

Education Valid State of Iowa teaching license Bachelor's Degree with Reading endorsement/area of emphasis or Master's Degree Completion of Cognitive Coaching training (or similar training) preferred Experience A minimum of three years teaching experience Minimum one year experience or similar as an instructional coach preferred

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Facilitate preliminary discussions as to areas in which the teachers being coached desire to improve including the formulation of an action plan to bring about such improvement Support classroom teachers and professional learning communities Assists colleagues at multiple entry points to increase content knowledge and classroom application of culturally responsive instruction Analyze and synthesize classroom and achievement data with teachers (including feedback from students and building leadership) to improve instructional practices and student engagement Facilitates learning-focused conversations using classroom and achievement data Conduct coaching cycles with teachers focused on improving universal instruction Demonstrate lessons and instructional strategies in the classroom Support classroom teachers' implementation and innovation efforts through ongoing personal professional development Collaborate with Curriculum & Instruction Specialist and administration to plan and deliver professional development Collaborate with Curriculum & Instruction Specialist to support mentoring and induction Regularly support and/or instruct student small groups in the area of reading. Assist with planning and preparation of standardized testing Provide teacher leadership in district initiatives as outlined in the district and building plans and help ensure that all MSS students are performing at proficiency. Meet regularly with curriculum and instruction specialist, building principal(s), and teachers regarding curriculum and instructional strategies being implemented and the impact on student learning Maintain and improve competence through participation in professional training. Provide learning experiences that assist school staff to make meaningful decisions about teaching and learning.

Ancillary Job Functions Assists with maintaining teacher training records. Documents meetings and communicates follow-up Keep informed of and comply with federal, Bureau of Indian Education (BIE), state, district, and school regulations and policies Assist in communicating information to parents/guardians and community members about Meskwaki Settlement School's programs and learning opportunities. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other student documents required.
