Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and organize the learning activities of the class with due regard to the individual differences and needs of the students.
  • Maintain, in cooperation with the Administration and colleagues, good order and discipline in the classroom and school premises, consistent with the Meskwaki Settlement School Disciplinary Policy.
  • Prepare daily and yearly plans of all curricular activities of the class.
  • Evaluate each child's progress and plan instructional methods accordingly.
  • Maintain and keep all necessary records for each student.
  • Initiate motivation and positive atmosphere for the utmost learning of each student.
  • Report regularly to the parent/guardian in regard to their child's progress
  • Attend regularly all meetings of the staff convened by the Administration.
  • Carry out supervising responsibilities as assigned by the Administration.
  • Shall be responsible for the daily operation, development, and implementation of the Meskwaki Language/Culture in the classroom.
  • Create and assist with Language/Cultural activities.
  • Encourage the use of the Meskwaki language.
  • Subject to the policies of the Board and regulations set by the Board or other central administrative personnel on behalf of the Board.
  • Consults with Administration in the following areas: teaching traditional Meskwaki values and related areas.
  • On a continuous basis, work with the Administration and fellow staff members on materials and methods to continually improve the learning opportunities of all children.
  • Participate in professional development as required and training in programs that are necessary for he well being of each child (i.e. CPR/First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens, and Mandatory Reporter).
  • Other Duties as assigned.


  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
  • Working knowledge of the Meskwaki Language/Culture
  • Prefer ability to speak, read & write Meskwaki Language, or willingness to learn.
  • Must pass background check in accordance with Public Law 101-630, Public Law 101-647 and the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Presention Act.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
